SAN FRANCISCO—Divine Performing Arts of New York presented its first Chinese New Year Spectacular show at the Orpheum Theater on Jan. 23. A combination of traditional Chinese dance, music, and song delighted the audience.

Lynn Stockman, retired, booked the tickets to the Chinese New Year Spectacular in San Francisco early, on Oct. 13, as soon as he saw a notice on the Internet from Ticketmaster about the show.

He does not regret it, as he got excellent seats to today's show – first row of the loge center.

Carmel-by-the-Sea resident, Stockman thought the show "looks interesting" and he purchased the tickets online.

"I liked the big screen where they have the animation on the big screen and coordinate with the live dancers–and that makes a nice effect.

"I like the theater also, I saw Les Miserables here years ago. It is a nice theater.

Asked about the inner meaning of the show, Stockman replied: "It is all interwoven—the culture, and the heritage, and the dancing."

"It is very good, I like it, I would recommend it and come back next year.

"I hope it keeps going. How much longer? Another hour and a half? Good!"

His friend William Coomes, also of Carmel commented, "I like it better than I expected."

The Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular shows will continue at the Orpheum Theater for six more performances through Jan. 26, and will also be in Minneapolis at the Northrop Memorial Auditorium on Jan. 24, and Arie Crown Theater in Chicago Jan. 25-26.

Beginning on Jan. 30, the NTDTV Chinese New Year Splendor will play for 15 shows at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
