I am delighted to send my best wishes to all NTDTV viewers for the New Year, and for a successful Year of the Rat.

I know how popular and enjoyable Chinese New Year celebrations are for people from all communities. They give everyone the opportunity to celebrate the immense contribution which Chinese communities make to our national life.

Britain is rightly proud of our ethnically diverse society, and of our British identity and shared values. All of us---whatever our background or faith---have got far more that unites us than divides us.
